Are you getting hitched this winter? If so, you’ve probably reaped the benefits of getting a highly-prized venue – that’s pre-booked for summer nuptials years in advance – at a snip of the price. Unlike the venue, it is possible to hire a wedding car at short notice. In fact, you can choose and book your dream wheels in a matter of minutes.

According to Bridebook Wedding Report 2017, the average cost for the car is £470, so it pays to choose a motor that makes your heart beat faster.

Whether you’re after a luxury saloon, sports car or vintage vehicle, there are wedding car hire options designed to ensure you make a grand entrance in keeping with your own sense of style. Your choice of vehicle is a great way to stamp your personality on your big day. It’s time to ditch the clichés and fall in love with these very cool wedding cars…

Classic car hire

Rolls Royce Phantom

For traditionalists, the classic Rolls-Royce or Bentley ticks all the big white wedding boxes. These days though, couples are just as likely to choose a prestige vehicle or luxury car hire which can deliver more panache, particularly if you’re looking for a chauffeur service as part of the package.

According to Wedding Ideas magazine, classic cars are overtaking in the style stakes, in line with the trend for gorgeous vintage designs. The traditional white car is no longer considered de rigueur, with many couples opting for modern classic cars, which offer a more comfortable ride – and colour pops of reds, yellows and blues.

Chauffeur-driven limousines are still attractive but the wealth of luxury car hire options has led to a significant increase in the number of couples opting for self-drive – incorporating a stylish, comfortable and exciting car to drive as part of the big day. Many now extend their car hire and keep it for a few more days as they drive off to enjoy their honeymoon.

If you are looking for a traditional wedding car with flair, try the Rolls Royce Phantom or Bentley Continental.

Vintage car hire

Jaguar E Type

Jaguar E Type

Nothing says vintage quite like the quintessential English sports car, with the Jaguar E-Type and the Aston Martin topping our vintage car hire wish lists.

Take your cue from the nation’s first couple Prince William and Kate Middleton who drove down the Mall in an Aston Martin DB6 MKlI.  Not to be outdone, Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, and husband James Matthews departed behind the wheel of not just any Jaguar E-Type, but the oldest surviving Series 1 Roadster, built in February 1961, when they wed in summer 2017.

According to GQ magazine, Pippa and James called it right with their Jag ticking the classic box with a hint of rebellion. GQ also recommends the DB6 and DB9 but if you want to avoid the James Bond cliché, give the DB5 a miss.

If you want to really make a vintage entrance (and exit), choose the ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ model, the 1906 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost. Or swap kitsch for wow factor: the Bentley S from the 1950s delivers vintage luxury with maximum style points.

Contemporary luxury car hire

Audi R8 V10

If your tastes are thoroughly modern, there’s a sharp looking line up of contemporary prestige vehicles with equal amounts of head-turning capabilities as their yesteryear counterparts. You’ll be spoilt for choice from the ranges of Mercedes-Benz, BMW or Audi, whilst a Jaguar maintains the British connection, if that’s important to you.

If you want comfort and spaciousness, perhaps choose the Mercedes S-Class or, for an extra special ride, opt for the high-performance AMG version inspired by the brand’s racing heritage.

BMW offer a fantastic choice but for the combination of pizzazz and comfort, we like the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo and the BMW 7 Series Saloon for the ultimate in luxury car hire on your wedding day. The Audi A8 also get top marks for luxury and comfort, whilst being the perfect contemporary chauffeur car.

If you want to be a bit different, go for a Lexus LS – the latest incarnation will arrive in January 2018 – although previous models also deliver on driving dynamics, luxurious interior and comfortable ride whilst also being a fabulous chauffeur car.

Instagram Perfect hire cars

Aston Martin DB6

Aston Martin DB6

All our cars are simply Instagram perfect but we would have to pick out the vintage Rolls Royce or Aston Martin for maximum impact.

We also love the dramatic lines and sounds of the Audi R8, and the newly arrived Lexus LC 500 matches great looks with top performance.

If bling is your thing, a stretch limo will be the order for your day, in pink possibly? We suggest a Hummer for the ultimate statement vehicle, although a white Rolls Royce Phantom, the Silver Cloud II or Ghost Series II would also deliver the wow factor. You could also get posh with a limited-edition Range Rover Evoque, designed by former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.

Thinking of something edgier? Perhaps a silver Aston Martin Rapide, a Bentley Arnage or Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 is your image of perfection.
