Supercars are a plenty in London. Walk around and it’s not uncommon to see multiple owned and rented luxury cars on a daily basis. Now imagine if all that was around you was a plethora of beautiful, exotic cars that you could get up close and personal with.
Well yesterday for us at isuperdrive that alternate reality came true – and it was heaven!
The Motorexpo, back this week, returns to its home in Canary Wharf for the 20th annual UK event.
The event transforms London’s premier business district into a free-to-visit display of the latest vehicles available today – and some that are yet to be released. There is even the opportunity to test drive a select few of the cars!
Our minds were on one thing though, and that was the supercars. So without further ado here’s the list of our favourite supercars being showcased at the Motorexpo.
Aston Martin Vanquish
The Aston Martin Vanquish was one of the first cars that took our breath away. The new distinctive Carbon Edition specification looks simply amazing. The 2015 edition has also been equipped with a new generation V12 engine – the most powerful GT production engine in Aston Martin history. It’s clear to see why this beauty is Aston Martins flagship Grand Tourer.
Ferrari 458 Speciale
The distinctive Ferrari 458 Speciale brought in the crowds. With its classic red body and elegant curves, aesthetically it’s hard to beat. A new 4.5 litre V8 engine takes the Ferrari 458 into new, extreme territory, producing nearly 600hp and 9000RPM. Add the carbon fibre underbody which saves 90kg, and it is clear to see that this upgrade is designed with performance in mind.
Rolls Royce Wraith
If you wanted to define a car’s popularity at the Motorexpo by the queue to sit in the cockpit, then the clear winner was the Rolls Royce Wraith. We can see why too – it is a monster of a car. The back looks fabulous and the suicide doors really give the Wraith a unique, classic feel. The interior is equally as impressive, with thick Wilton carpet and acres of soft leather. Performance-wise, the twin-turbo charged V12 engine delivers formidable power, and is more than capable of dragging the Wraiths heavy body into high speeds.
Jaguar F-Type Project 7
A very welcome surprise was seeing the Jaguar F-Type Project 7. Designed to celebrate Jaguar’s reputation for head-turning design, it manages to encapsulate the essence of Jaguar’s Le Mans winning D-Type racing cars. Racing-inspired front bumpers and an exclusive classic rear Aero Haunch are the most striking features. This F-Type really is a sight to behold.
This list, and the show in fact, would not be complete without at least one Lamborghini included (There are actually 2 on show!). The flamboyant Lamborghini Aventador was unmissable, in part due to its bright yellow paintwork and in part due to picture-hungry crowds queuing up beside it. No doubt the star of the show, its unwavering angles never fail to attract and delight its audience. The latest version still has the V12 engine, but also has a carbon-fibre monocoque with aluminium front and rear frames. This makes it remarkably light, highly resilient and above all – even more fun to drive. No wonder the Lamborghini is one of our most popular supercars to rent in London.
If you do get a chance to check out the Motorexpo it’s on until Sunday and free to enter.
